Details

Ginger is in the same family as turmeric, cardamom, and galangal; it is native to Southeast Asia and was probably first domesticated by Austronesian peoples. It is one of the first spices to have been exported from Asia, arriving in Europe with the spice trade.
The flavor of ginger is characterized by a unique combination of warm, lemon/citrus, and earthy notes. Ginger is potent and pairs well with other flavors like blackberry, honey, turmeric, lemon, cinnamon, and fennel.
